A meeting of the Berlin Board of Education was held in the Berlin High School library beginning at 6:00 p.m. Present for the meeting were Nicole Plourde, Lynn Moore, Louise Valliere, Donald Labrecque, Corinne Cascadden, Debora Payeur, Georgia Caron, Amy Huter, Julie King, Gary Bisson, Dan Record, Tim Forestall, Roland Pinette, Cheryl Pinette, Ann Nolin, and member of the press.
MINUTES On a motion by Lynn Moore, seconded by Louise Valliere, the Board voted to approve the minutes of the August 15, 2013 meeting, public and nonpublic sessions. The motion passed unanimously.
WARRANTS On a motion by Donald Labrecque, seconded by Lynn Moore, the Board voted to approve the warrants dated, August 28 2013, September 2, 2013, September 8, 2013 and September 9, 2013 for the amounts of $657.16, $6,293.55, $11,838.38, and $266,589.68 respectively. On a roll call vote, all members voted in the affirmative.
FINANCIAL REPORT The Board reviewed and approved the financial report. The Superintendent reported that the City had finalized the additional $183,000 appropriation.

AREA WITHDRAWAL Discussion ensued regarding a meeting held on August 27, 2013 with the AREA Agreement Withdrawal Committee. This committee was formed to explore the option of Milan withdrawing from the present AREA Agreement and entering into a Tuition Agreement similar to Dummer’s agreement. The Superintendent will provide the Board with additional information on the difference between an AREA and Tuition Agreement and the number of Milan students currently in our district.
SUPER’S REPORT The Superintendent informed the Board of the following issues:
- First Day Enrollment (remains consistent)
- Joint Meeting with Milan and Dummer to be held on October 17, 2013
- IDEA Determination (District is meeting all requirements)
- BHS Homecoming on September 13, 2013

NEW BUSINESS Donald Labrecque commented on how awesome the new Mountaineer logo is that was installed in the center ice area at the Notre Dame Arena.
Louise Valliere congratulated the JV Girls Soccer team on winning their first game.
NON PUBLIC On a motion by Donald Labrecque, seconded by Lynn Moore, the Board voted to go into nonpublic session at 6:25 p.m. in accordance with RSA 91-A3II, (a), (b) & (c). On a roll call vote, all members voted in the affirmative.
On a motion by Donald Labrecque, seconded by Louise Valliere, the Board voted to come out of nonpublic session at 7:20 p.m. The motion passed unanimously. No additional votes were taken in nonpublic session.
